We cannot address mental health effectively unless we are willing to take systemic oppression into consideration. As a brown woman settler on Turtle Island, I know personally that I have always had to rely on creative solutions for survival with this mind in the body I inhabit due to rampant bigotry. Without an equity lens, mental health initiatives will fail to meet the needs of the most oppressed folx.
