You’ve probably spent the past year in nothing but slippers, so the idea of putting on “real shoes” again may seem daunting. Luckily, popular maternity clothing brand HATCH has teamed up with Keds on a new sneaker collaboration that is both chic and comfy. The collection—HATCH’s first foray into shoes—includes three sneaker styles ($65-$80).

In anticipation of this buzzy launch, we chatted with Ariane Goldman, the founder of HATCH (and mom of two!). “With all that women do, and with their strength and hardworking attitude, I wanted to give them something they could run and walk in,” she says of the HATCH x Keds collaboration.

All of the styles are optimized for pregnant and postpartum feet—and yes, they’re also still a solid pick if you’re none of these things. The shoes stretch, feature a cushioned footbed, and feel “breathable” thanks to ventilation holes. They even offer extra width if your feet feel swollen.

“Our team thoughtfully co-designed each pair to help mamas balance their busy lives in style with a little bit more comfort and ease to accommodate the changing needs, and changing feet, of motherhood,” Goldman adds.

What Is Included in the HATCH x Keds Collab?

There are three reimagined sneaker styles in this collaboration.

The Double Decker Bateau Stripe Sneaker is a flexible sneaker that you can slip on quickly. It stretches to accommodate swollen feet and is breathable thanks to its ventilation holes. It also features a Softerra™ footbed for extra comfort.

The ACE Sneaker is made of leather and lined with organic cotton. It also has the Softerra footbed and its lace-up function allows for more width if needed. This sneaker features a pop of pink on the back and the word “MAMA” written in gold foil on both shoes.

“The ACE [is my go-to],” says Goldman. “I love the flexible leather and the gold ‘MAMA’ detail on the side.”

The Champion Sneaker is the iconic Keds style we all know and love, with a HATCH twist. “MAMA” is printed on the tongues of the shoes.

The lace-up style is made from organic cotton canvas with a light and flexible rubber sole. It includes two sets of laces–a classic white version, as well as a white one with small black hearts. This style is available in both medium and wide widths.

How to Style the HATCH x Keds Sneakers

All three of the sneakers feature a white base, making them a versatile wardrobe piece. (Perhaps take them off before playing in the sandbox with your toddler.)

“I plan on simply styling them with my favorite pair of jeans, a T-shirt, a blazer, and be out the door,” Goldman shares.

You can also dress them up, if you plan on staying in flats for the rest of the season. “As it's started to heat up a little, I've already had some fun mixing and matching [them] with feminine dresses for a relaxed, breezy summer look,” Goldman says.
