Infants begin teething anywhere from 4 to 7 months of age. The timeline for teething is incredibly variable and may even begin after a year of life—so don’t worry if you feel your little one isn't sprouting teeth early enough. Teething is commonly associated with excessive drooling, discomfort, irritability, difficulty sleeping, and even, at times, a low-grade fever. Studies show that oral stimulation, such as teething biscuits or cold external pressure, can support symptom management. 

Teething biscuits are dissolvable soft solids that do not crumble or crack in the mouth when stimulated by the gums. Because the gums are tender and swollen from the emerging teeth, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) states that the pressure applied by teething biscuits or chilled foods can soothe, numb, and even reduce oral inflammation.

It is important to note that you should only offer your child teething biscuits and frozen foods if they are already taking solid foods. For infants not yet taking solid foods, plastic and rubber toys made with baby-safe materials are approved by the AAP. However, in accordance with the FDA, the AAP does not encourage the use of teething products made with amber, wood, marble, or silicone as they are considered choking hazards.
