When is Amazon Prime Day 2021?

Amazon Prime Day 2021 starts at 12 AM PDT on Monday, June 21, and runs through 11:59 PM PDT on Tuesday, June 22, 2021.

Prime Day dates range. The first was in July, and this year’s will be in late June. It became a two-day event for the first time in 2019—July 15 and 16, where sales beat that year’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday combined, so expect it to be two days once again.

What is Amazon Prime Day?

Amazon’s Prime Day started in July of 2015 to commemorate 20 years of Amazon, and 10 years since Prime membership began. Outside of Black Friday, it’s one of the big deal day(s) of the year—where prices sometimes drop to levels even lower than Black Friday or Cyber Monday.

“[You’ll find] discounts up to 30 percent off on items like cleaning and laundry supplies, up to 50 percent off children's books, party supplies like a 100-pack of plastic cups for $5, trash bags, toys, and more,” says Julie Ramhold, Consumer Analyst with DealNews.com.

Be aware, though, you do need an Amazon Prime membership to participate, which costs $119 per year. If you’re not a member, you can start on a 30-day trial.

How Can I Find the Best Deals?

“It's not just electronics, fitness trackers, and Amazon devices that have great deals on Prime Day,” says Ramhold. You can expect steep discounts in dozens of product categories, like Instant Pots, air fryer, clothing, and shoes for the whole family, plus household items.

“Last year we saw a Vitamix 64-oz. blender for $280, which matched Black Friday prices and was again the lowest price we'd seen at the time,” says Ramhold. “We saw an Instant Pot 6-quart smart WiFi model bundled with a then-current Echo Dot for $89—it was the best price for the cooker we'd seen at the time and included the smart device as well.”

We also recommend keeping an eye out for sharp price drops in everyday bulk items you’ll need. “Look for things like pantry items on sale, including snacks like gummy bears (a 65-pack of 0.8-oz bags for $12),” says Ramhold, “protein bars multi-packs that work out to 67 cents per bar, 48-packs of single-serve cereal for $9, 20 percent off Amazon brand food and drink, and more.”

What Other Brands Have Sales Around Prime Day?

Other brands have always gotten in on Amazon’s fun and don’t want to be upstaged. Look for savings at Bed Bath & Beyond (2-Day Flash Sale), save 15 percent at Brooklinen, take $100 off select Dysons, and find two-day specials at Macy's. Plus, check out Wayfair and Walmart's competing Prime Day Sales. All of which you don't need a membership to shop, and many will match pricing you find on Amazon, and shipping speeds.
