My Daughter Predicted It...

"Twins run in my family, and I am actually a fraternal twin with a brother. I already have a five-year-old. I found out I was pregnant about a week after I conceived, so I called the doctor. At my appointment, my doctor was taking all my history and info, and sent me to the hospital for an ultrasound, thinking I was further along or multiple pregnancies. I asked my daughter if she wanted us to have a baby and she said I was having two. LOL! As soon as the tech put the wand on my belly... there it was... two sacks! I was 6 weeks when it was confirmed by ultrasound." -- Ashley

My Husband Predicted It...

"Right from the time I realized I was pregnant, my husband always said I would give birth to twins, but I always said it was not possible. I didn't go to d hospital until I was 8 months because I didn't want to know the sex of my baby. I just wanted it to be a surprise. It happened that I started urinating uncontrollably so I finally went. The doctor was shocked to hear I was just coming in. All kinds of test were carried out on me and an ultrasound scan also was done. I was shocked to learn I was with twins. I regretted not coming earlier but they were fine and well positioned. A week later, I went into labor and had a normal delivery of a set of beautiful, identical, healthy twin baby girls. They weighed 2.6kg & 2.4kg. They are now getting to be 2 years old and I am now currently pregnant again. Since I didn't do family planning, with twins again. This time boys. It's so unbelievable. -- Yuddie

Worth the Wait

"We were an older couple (45 & 59) when we finally got pregnant via IVF using donor eggs. Being older, they tracked things very closely with me, doing the 1st ultrasound at 6 weeks. I had some bleeding the day before, and a previous miscarriage, so I was afraid to look at the monitor, for fear that something had gone wrong. My husband was watching closely, though, when the nurse pointed to the screen and said "there's 1 baby...and there's baby #2!" Once we were in the car, my husband told me "I didn't know WHAT I was looking at, I just knew I was looking at 2 of them!" We are now the enormously proud parents of 11-month old boy/girl twins... absolutely worth the wait!" -- Lisa

Commercial Clue

"About a week after finding out I was pregnant, I remember hearing the word 'twin' on the radio. (Not in reference to babies, I think it was a mattress commercial!) I remember thinking "Twins? Crap, what if it's twins?". We decided to move to another state to be closer to family once we knew we were expecting, so in the process of moving and such I didn't have my first ultrasound until 21 weeks. Up until that point, I joked DAILY with my husband and family about how I needed to nap every day cuz the 'twins' were wearing me out. Everyone laughed. When we finally scheduled an ultrasound, the tech said "Did you know there are 2?" and I couldn't believe my ears!" -- Atrophiedsanity

Honeymoon Babies

"I was 35 and getting married after finally finding Mr. Right. The wedding was planned and honeymoon booked when my calculations led me to believe I would be ovulating on our honeymoon. I told all my friends and family I would fall pregnant with twins on my honeymoon. They all laughed and said, "Careful what you wish for..." One of my friends ended up being the sonographer that the obstetrician sent me to for my scan. She started the ultrasound and within half a second she covered her mouth with her eyes spar!" The moment was made so special because it was my friend who first saw my boys. They were born healthy at 32 weeks and we would be lost without them." -- vicc123

Hidden Twin

"All right, mine is a bit of an odd situation. How can everyone miss a second baby from being seen or heard? Guess they were not looking for baby #2! Did the 8-week ultrasound at a fertility clinic and was told 100% only one, with an internal vaginal wand, HA! Then when I went for 2nd ultrasound, over the belly @ 20 weeks along (5 months), the tech was thrown back. She looked at me and said, "I don't think you know! Do you have someone with you that I can get?" I immediately thought something was wrong with my baby. Then my fiance came in, sat down, then she began moving the wand and said, "Well, this is baby #1 & this is baby #2!" Needless to say, my fiance's face was priceless -- so was mine for that matter. I began to cry and laugh all at the same time. Both our hearts were beating 100 miles a minute. Our initial reaction was both at the same time. "You have to be kidding me, right?" Then we all laughed. We were in complete awe, as everyone one had missed the second baby. What a miracle they are! Three months & growing well..." -- Manon Steve

April Fools!

"I found out I was pregnant in March but didn't know how far along. I went to the doctor on the 20th of March and she said I felt further along than I thought. So she scheduled an appointment for an ultrasound on April 1st, 2011. As soon as she put the ultrasound scan on me, she said, "Oh, there's two in there!" I just replied, "No there's not." Then she showed me and indeed, there were two babies in me. LOL. Throughout the whole day, I was trying to tell my friends and family but they would not believe me until I showed them my ultrasound pics. LOL. Today I am 37 weeks pregnant and with fraternal boy and girl twins." --Shanika

Just Like Dora

"It was my second pregnancy and my oldest daughter, Jordan, was 3 and in love with Dora the Explorer. The Big Sister Dora video had just come out. "Perfect," I thought. Just before my ultrasound at 18 weeks, we told Jordan that I was going to have a baby and she would be able to see it on a TV screen. She was convinced I was having a boy and a girl like Dora's mom and told everyone. I tried to convince her that Mommy was having only one baby and we'd find out what (boy or girl) after the baby was born. At my appointment, the ultrasound technician went pale when he saw two heads!! When the babies were born my husband and I found out that Jordan had been right all along. She had a brother and a sister!!" -- shawnz99

Bad News Turns to Good News

"We went today for an ultrasound because I thought I had a miscarriage over the weekend. I got a little worried when the tech said she also needed to do an internal ultrasound. I was preparing myself for the worst because they didn't do that with our first child. My husband sat watching her click away at measurements, not really understanding what she was doing. He said he noticed the words "fetus a and b" up on the screen, but he just thought that was pictures of different views. So needless to say, when she turned the screen to me she said, "Well, here is your baby and here is your baby," you could imagine our shock when we were told TWINS and that there was no miscarriage. It turned into a very happy day!! After explaining to my husband that because I am a twin, the skipping of generations is not always the case." -- TWINS

In My Dreams

"I was in my hometown in Puerto Rico when I knew I was pregnant again. This was my 8th pregnancy. God told me in a dream that I was having 9 kids. I knew that if I was pregnant, this was my chance of having twins because my mother was a twin and I have two brothers who are twins. I wished it hard and at 3 months, I had an ultrasound and that was the way I found out it was two, a boy and a girl. My husband almost falls back but we are so happy with our big and beautiful family. God bless all the brave mothers." -- Swahili
